IECEx CoPC – Certificate of Personnel Competence

International certification for competence in explosive atmospheres (Ex environments)

The IECEx CoPC (Certificate of Personnel Competence) training is an internationally recognized certification program designed for professionals working in hazardous areas with explosive atmospheres.
This program is officially recognized by the IECEx system. Participants who successfully pass the examinations throughout the course receive an internationally valid certificate, demonstrating their ability to perform activities and support projects in compliance with IECEx requirements and relevant IEC standards.

 

Comprehensive competence in explosive atmospheres (Ex)

The course content is structured according to the official IECEx units of competence, covering the full range of activities required for safe work in hazardous areas.
Participants will develop practical and technical knowledge across the following units:
Ex 001 – Basic principles of explosion protection
Ex 003 – Installation of equipment, types of protection and wiring systems
Ex 004 – Maintenance of equipment in hazardous areas
Ex 006 – Testing of electrical equipment and installations
Ex 007 – Visual and close inspection
Ex 008 – Detailed inspection

 

Who is this training suitable for?

This program is designed for professionals directly or indirectly involved in projects, operation, maintenance and inspection in industrial environments with explosive atmospheres.

Typical participants include:

  • Technicians and maintenance specialists
  • Supervisors and operational leaders
  • Electrical and process engineers
  • EHS and occupational safety professionals

 

Assessment and certification

Certification is granted based on performance in the official examinations applied throughout the course, at the end of each module.
Participants must achieve the minimum required score to obtain the internationally recognized IECEx CoPC certification.

 

Prerequisites

To ensure eligibility for certification, participants must demonstrate the following prior to enrollment:

  • General knowledge of explosive atmospheres (Ex)
  • Understanding of hazardous areas, including principles, installations and inspections
  • Practical experience in hazardous areas (e.g. classification drawings, installation or maintenance of Ex equipment)
  • If needed, guidance on how to meet these prerequisites can be provided through the “Path to Safety” program.

 

Duration and structure

Ex 001: 24 hours
Full program (Ex 001, 003, 004, 006, 007, 008): 64 hours
Level: Advanced

 

Format

Instructor-led training combined with certification examinations throughout the course.
