New Year’s Greetings & Important Information on the New EU Machinery Regulation

New EU Machinery Regulation – Time to Prepare

We wish you a successful, healthy and innovative New Year!

At the beginning of the year, we would like to draw your attention to a significant regulatory change that is of great importance for manufacturers, integrators and operators of machinery.

New EU Machinery Regulation – Time to Prepare

With Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 (EU Machinery Regulation), the previously applicable Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC will be replaced. The new regulation will become fully applicable and legally binding from 20 January 2027.

This means:
There is only about one year left to prepare machines, processes and documentation in line with the new requirements.

Unlike the former directive, the regulation applies directly in all EU Member States. Among other things, it introduces:

  • extended requirements for safety and risk assessment
  • new provisions for digital documentation
  • clearer rules for software, AI functions and connected machinery
  • increased responsibility across the entire value chain
